This week I would like you to listen and follow along with the screen recording on Photosynthesis and Cell Respiration from the textbook section 1.3 page 30-31. You will be asked to watch 2 videos from Brain Pop on Photosynthesis and Cell Respiration, complete the Check Your Understanding Questions page 33 #1-7 and finish the BLM 1.3-9. I will check your CYU #1-7, the BLM 1.3-9 and the Miniproject next Monday, May 4. Have fun!

Go to the PBS website linked to the yellow button below and launch the Interactive if your device can work with it. If the interactive does not work you can try the printable version. Use the website "Illuminating Photosynthesis" to answer the questions from the attached worksheet. Then complete the concept map and study guide to complete the section on photosynthesis and cell respiration.

Lesson #5 and #6: May 11- May25, 2020 The Big Biology Finish!
Welcome to week 5 and 6! These next 2 weeks we will be finishing the Biology Unit with a project instead of a test. Due to the Pro D- Day on May 15 and the Victoria Day Holiday on May 19, I will collecting the BLM1.3-4 planning sheet on May 19,2020 and I will be collecting this final labelled model on May 25.
TASK: Read the description on the assignment sheet below BLM 1.3-4 and DO NOT GO OUT TO BUY ANYTHING TO MAKE THIS PROJECT. Your goal is to use things you find around your house: shoe boxes, toilet paper tubes, yogurt containers, toothpicks, old balls, straws, metal lids from cans, chopsticks, etc... to make a model of a plant or animal cell. The planning sheet with 10 organelles is due May 19,2020 and the labelled model is due May 25. Have fun and be creative with this final project!

Lesson #6: May 20-25 Cell Model
Week 6: Last week we started brainstorming for the 3-D Cell Model and you handed in the planning sheet (BLM 1.3-4). This week you will create the model and take a picture (or two) of it and submit the pictures on the portal by Monday, May 25.
Remember: try to use things around the house, recycled materials, food, boxes, yogurt containers and be creative!

Lesson #7: May 26-June 1
Week 7: Welcome to the last week for the Science 8 biology unit. This week you will be doing a summative assessment and choosing 1 paragraph to write on each subunit. You will submit all 4 paragraphs by June 1 for a total of 4x 5 marks each = 20 marks. Good luck!

Don't forget to write four paragraphs in total but choose only 1 from part A, 1 from part B, 1 from part C and 1 from part D for a total of FOUR paragraphs!
